When Steve Jobs was alive he was once credited with saying Fox News<\/a> is America\u2019s cancer. Given what has happened in the past decade it would be hard not to agree. The Murdoch<\/a> stable has been playing an active part in destroying democracies around the world mainly with opinions<\/a> and conspiracies disguised as news<\/a>. I\u2019m sure it\u2019s not the intention but a contributor none the less which hardly sets the high bar when it comes to journalism<\/a>. In Australia<\/a> an Ex Prime minister<\/a> has organised a petition to instigate a royal commission into the Murdoch owned media<\/a> for this very reason.\u00a0 Free speech is one thing\u00a0 but if we don’t tolerate hate speech in the media<\/a> then why should society accept lies. This especially applies to the science of Climate change<\/a> and other truth based realities where the Murdoch press pushes the total opposite of what is factual. The Brexit<\/a> example in Britain is another case in point where lies were peddled as truths<\/a> and a country voted armed with that baseless information. A self inflicted wound<\/a> became the result of that. Here in Australia we have Sky News after dark pushing the same narrative, totally opinion based without facts. Then there is the Trump cult<\/a> in America, a wilfully ignorant<\/a> section of the population being spoon fed lie after lie<\/a> all because its what they want to hear. This stuff destroys nations<\/a>, it destroys democracies<\/a> and while one can understand frustration on the right with woke cancel<\/a> culture and all the other PC diversions the left seems to take. But those little diversions<\/a> from the big picture are only harmful to a few individuals, for the rest it\u2019s just an annoyance. On the other hand, ignoring science and hard factual data<\/a> for the sake of wishful thinking is an extreme<\/a> danger to everyone\u2019s well being. It doesn\u2019t matter what it is, be it gun control<\/a>, economics<\/a>, health care<\/a>, climate science<\/a>, or even a reaction<\/a> to a pandemic. If you are going to try and live in a world with magical thinking<\/a> then you will perish in the end. Take for instance the 2020 American election, the counties that voted for Biden constitute 70% of America\u2019s economy<\/a>, while the counties voting for Trump account for less than 30% of the country’s economy<\/a>. Yet they want to be perceived as the holders of all wisdom<\/a> when it comes to making the country great while at the same time reap the benefits of the blue states doing the heavy lifting. This is how a person like Trump came to power<\/a>, a carnival barker who drip feeds lie after lie<\/a> and his cult soaks<\/a> it up like a sponge<\/a>. Which is also why the Murdoch<\/a> empire needs to be revamped or dissolved completely and the best way to do that is market forces. Advertising boycotts<\/a> and a more educated<\/a> public not accepting propaganda<\/a> as fact. Keeping in mind if a significant portion<\/a> of the population chooses to remain ignorant by choice.<\/a>\u00a0Then that is far more dangerous<\/a> than any global pandemic<\/a> virus no matter what country you are living in.<\/p>\n
