For decades now Conservatism globally has been slowly walking this path back to a dark age by it\u2019s inability<\/a> to adapt to a modern world<\/a>. Instead they have trended<\/a> to be more<\/a> extreme with nationalism and isolationist views. This lack of any long term vision and being entirely comfortable taking on absurdities<\/a> to prop up a belief system only amplifies<\/a> how lost<\/a> they have become ,<\/a>\u00a0 some don’t even believe in the value of government<\/a>. The election of Trump<\/a> tested this viewpoint like no other. On the line was a politician\u2019s integrity<\/a>, easily identified<\/a> defending blatant falsehoods<\/a> or just by staying silent when they should have spoken out<\/a>.\u00a0 In Australia<\/a> it\u2019s the same, while we don’t have the extremes<\/a> of Trumpism<\/a> it\u2019s clear that certain<\/a> conservative politicians and media<\/a> still want to ignore facts<\/a> in order to protect these precious beliefs<\/a>. No different in Britain with Brexit<\/a>, conservatism propped up with falsehoods<\/a> walking<\/a> the same path<\/a>. Meanwhile China<\/a>, a communist regime turned it\u2019s ideology in knots to adapt<\/a> to a modern world. A totally focused plan weaponizing Capitalism<\/a> with it\u2019s thirst for profit and lower costs becoming manufacturer to the world.\u00a0 Including the many infringements of western innovations but was given a pass because of companies chasing a quick profit. Meanwhile in the USA, it operates like 50 small countries<\/a> instead of thinking as one.\u00a0 The obsession with individualism, on one hand that\u2019s a good thing but in a nation that has now grown to over 325+ million, one would think it might be time to take a second look<\/a>. Especially when 700,000+ covid<\/a> deaths puts up a litmus test<\/a> on what is most important, Individual or Country. Instead conservatism<\/a> now wants to double down<\/a>, unlike in previous times they could see the value<\/a> in universal<\/a> rules for seat belts, gun control<\/a>, finance<\/a> or even scientific facts<\/a>. Now its Climate change<\/a> is a leftest<\/a> fantasy, any form of Socialism<\/a> is evil except if it benefits Wall St, wearing a mask<\/a> in public during a pandemic<\/a> is an infringement of \u201cMy<\/a>\u201d rights or election results<\/a> are fake<\/a> when it doesn\u2019t go your way<\/a>.\u00a0 The fractured logic of the anti-vaxers<\/a> and protesting school children wearing masks<\/a> as an individual freedom infringement vs the community benefit<\/a>. Is the same as protesting why they can’t travel through a school zone at a 100 mph. All those other rules that we live by day to day are also government mandates\u00a0 that have been with us for centuries. Now they are best known as being the Party of “NO<\/a>” without any policies for the past<\/a> 13 yrs. Totally tribal<\/a>, blocking<\/a> any attempt at governance<\/a> for the country<\/a> while just being content to be angry<\/a>. They want to believe a government with no oversight<\/a> is the best government , but the reality of that is exactly the same as communism or a dictatorship<\/a>. A small group of the powerful elite rule the world and Democracy plays no part<\/a>. Once it gets to this<\/a> then you know that is an ideology<\/a> gone rogue<\/a> and more of a threat<\/a> to humanity than its saviour<\/a>.
