While New Zealand might be the gold standard in terms of covid<\/a> response, the delta<\/a> strain has tested them as well as everyone else due to it\u2019s much higher transmission rate in a younger demographic. However the recent new outbreak in Australia once again highlighted the dangerous folly of trying to place a political philosophy up against Science. Our neighbouring state NSW run by a conservative government was initially slow to react to an outbreak. Follow this by only going into lockdown \u201clite<\/a>\u201d a week too late and the result of that turned the state into what looked like becoming another \u201cFlorida<\/a>\u201d. This is the state that criticised others for locking down too hard & early only to find out the harsh reality<\/a> of what it really costs if you don\u2019t. \u00a0In any crisis, critical thinking<\/a> is the key element to a solution not political philosophy<\/a>. There are no silver bullets to some of these problems but critical thinking<\/a> and science<\/a> are the only weapons we have, not opinions<\/a>. Last week 4Corners aired it\u2019s two part report on the other toxic<\/a> gift Australia gave America\u00a0 in \u201cThe Murdochs<\/a>\u201d which in destructive<\/a> terms may be even worse<\/a> than the pandemic. Something I have posted about previously, as this is the ultimate example<\/a> of how misguided<\/a> \u201cOpinion\u201d can really be<\/a> when it decides<\/a> it can arbitrate<\/a> on what it chooses<\/a> to be the truth<\/a> rather than reporting the truth<\/a>. Sometimes science can make specific predictions<\/a> with limited information<\/a>. While \u201cOpinions<\/a>\u201d on the other hand are just rolling the dice<\/a> as they are using an inbuilt prejudice<\/a> rather than thinking<\/a> with an educated<\/a> mind.
